ADVANCE TEAM OF 150 PERSONNEL OF SPLA-IO IS EXPECTED TO ARRIVE IN JUBA TOMORROW ON FRIDAY
Juba 17December 2015; Armed opposition also known as SPLA-IO announces that its advance team will arrive to Juba tomorrow (Friday). The Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC) confirmed the arrival of the advance team of SPLA-IO to Juba will be on Friday as pre its timetable.
SPLM-IO spokesperson Manawa Peter Gatkuoth said 150 delegates of its advance team will arrive in Juba tomorrow in order for them to attend a meeting of the JMEC, which is meant to oversee the implementation of South Sudan's peace deal signed between warring parties in August.
Manawa confirmed SPLA-IO received a JMEC statement yesterday (Wednesday) which includes a timetable on the implementation of the peace deal.
“All in all, we have received the statement yesterday. Now an agreement had been reached to send an advance team of 150 delegates to Juba”.
He said the team was supposed to reach Juba yesterday (Wednesday) but they received the letter late, so the necessary arrangements for the team of 150 personnel to travel to Juba on Wednesday were not complete on time, but we are expecting to team to be in Juba tomorrow on Friday. He added
According peter Gatkouth the group of 150 members will then be split into three groups to attend three meetings on 18, 21, and 28 December.
He did not however verify when the remaining team of 400 will come to Juba to bring the total number of the advance team to 550 as proposed by the opposition group before. The announcement of the arrival of 150 comes after government information minister Makuei earlier on insisted that they in the government will not allow the group to arrive in large number, because this will pose “risk of security”
