Amee, September 7, 2016; Unknown gunmen attack heavily inhabited barrack of SPLA-IG located at Amee junction close to Abara and Moli.  The attackers came from different directions leaving the army unprepared and unaware, some soldiers were said to have thrown away their guns took into buses before they could returned their barrack after the gunmen melted away and are now facing death themselves for what the barrack commander Deng Tito Maker said, “abandonment of post for the enemy forces to penetrate through with the a mission to cause great destruction including death on service men.”

Residents have taken covers into nearby forests as the two forces engaged into serious gun battle for over two hours on Saturday, finally the unknown gunmen melted into the thick forests. This news site cannot independently verify whether there were causalities from both sides.

Magwi and Pageri Counties have become very volatile and dangerous counties in the recent days. There have been constant clashes between the government forces and unknown gunmen. In the cases of Pageri and Kerepi the clashes between the gunmen and the government forces caused at least more than 30 lives of government soldiers in the last two weeks.

Some soldiers in kerepi, Pageri and Nyongwa have deserted their posts and have arrived in Pagirinya refugee camps in Uganda; they are now living in the same camp with the people they forcefully uprooted from their homes without cause at all.
