THE IDENTITY OF S. SUDAN'S MINISTER ARRESTED IN KAMPALA FOR SMOKING ASHISHA IS ESTABLISHED
Kampala, 8 January 2019: The identity of South Sudan’s minister arrested by Ugandan police in Kampala for smoking shisha in Bar in kabalagala, in the suburb of capital Kampala has been established.
A reliable and credible source within Kabalagala police station revealed to this reporter on Monday evening that indeed the detained man is the government of South Sudan's minister for rural development Mr. Simon Doup.
However, the reliable source cannot independently verify whether Rural development Minister Simon Doup is in Kampala for official duties or not. An unconfirmed report indicating Simon Doup is in Kampala to meet his Ugandan girlfriend, and the same source indicates that in fact at the time of his arrest, he [Doup] was with his unnamed girlfriend drinking in the same Bar where he was arrested for smoking shisha.
The government official was arrested on Saturday with other foreigners including some westerners, to verify Doup claim that indeed he is the Minister in Kiir’s troubled government, the police in Kampala conducted South Sudanese embassy in Kampala, and indeed the embassy official verified and identified Simon Doup as the minister for rural development in the troubled government of Salva Kiir.
Appearing at Kabalagala police station on live tv, minister Simon Doup appeared weird and look like a drunk, police were seen searching for his pockets and wallet before he was locked behind the bar.
However, Doup was released after South Sudanese embassy officials have confirmed his identity to police
